Swing, swing!

Today, I wanted to share with you my love for Parov Stelar. A long time ago (2004), I started to listen to his music and never stopped from this time! Why am I speaking of him just now?
Because he released a new album this year, of course!

He is the author of nine albums :

2001 : Shadow Kingdom LP
2004 : Rough Cuts
2005 : Seven and Storm
2007 : Shine
2008 : Daylight
2009 : That Swing – Best Of
2009 : Coco
2012 : The Princess
2013 : The Invisible Girl

His real name is Marcus Füreder and he is a great Austrian artist of 38 years old. He was born in Linz in 1974. He is a composer of electronic music and a great DJ.
He started to work with the pseudo Plasma. Live, he is accompanied by four musicians, The Parov Stelar Band.

Why is his music so attractive to me? Simply because this is a blend of house, jazz and most of all electro swing. He uses electonic music that includes the use of brass band.

The music is sometimes actual, fast and permeates us as a sharp arrow! Sometimes the music is just soft and we just let go!

A pure genius! See or rather listen by yourself!

a little in the same style you can hear the French group Caravan Palace :

Back to the seventies

“TSOP”, this is the title of this masterpiece. It means “The Sound Of Philadelphia”. This song was written by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff as the theme for the American musical television program “Soul Train” and it was performed by MFSB (Mother, Father, Sister, Brother). MFSB was an ensemble of more than thirty studio musicians based at Philadelphia’s Sigma Sound Studios. I can’t list all the members, it will be too long but some of them were : Earl Young (drums), Roland L. Chambers III (guitar), Bobby Eli (guitar), Lenny Pakula, Leon Huff (keyboards), Thom Bell (Keyboards), etc.

In 1974, it became a number one hit and the same year, this band was the winner of the Grammy for Best R&B Instrumental Performance. There was featuring vocals by The Three Degrees.

This song was released on the Philadelphia International label. This piece is almost instrumental but you can listen to the featuring vocals of the Three Degrees.
“TSOP” was a hit number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in the spring of 1974 and remained there for two weeks.

If you like this piece, you can find out the albums of the band :

Close your eyes!

If you’re tired when you go back home, just take a nap and listen to this beautiful song. “Fade into you” is performed by Mazzy Star whose lead singer is Hope Sandoval. She’s such a wonderful voice, soft and soothing. When I got a bad day, I just lie down in the sun (when it’s possible of course) and listen this song, I feel relieved, calm and peaceful.

Hope Sandoval is an American singer and songwriter. She is also the lead singer of another band, Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions. She was a guest vocal for many bands such as The Chemical Brothers, Death in Vegas or Massive Attack.

Now just listen and enjoy!

Love Song by Vanessa Paradis

A beautiful song written and composed by Benjamin Biollay and Vanessa Paradis for her new album to be released in may 2013.
Here, it’s another one that I love very much, it’s entitled ‘La Seine’ and this song is very catchy!
‘La Seine’ is part of the soundtrack ‘A Monster in Paris’ which is a French 3D animated feature directed by Bibo Bergeron.

Enjoy!

CSS – Hits Me Like A Rock

I really love this song! It’s a great Brazilian indie rock band.
This song is really awesome!
Great music to listen to when you’ve got the blahs!
Moreover, the title of the band is just wonderful ‘Cansei de Ser Sexy’ which means ‘tired of being sexy’.
